Find A School is a public map of schools in the UK. You can browse it without creating an account. The site does not ask you for your name or store your postcode search in its own database.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate visits and how the site performs. Its browser beacon does not use cookies, local storage or individual visitor profiles. It records information such as the page visited, referring site, approximate country, browser type and page performance. Cloudflare processes the requests needed to serve the site and analytics. We use these statistics to improve Find A School.

Maps and postcode searches

The map loads styles and tiles from CARTO. Your browser therefore contacts CARTO when you use the map; CARTO receives request data such as your IP address, browser details, time and the page referring the request. The map library, MapLibre, runs in your browser.

If you submit a postcode, your browser sends that postcode to Postcodes.io to find its coordinates. The search result is used in your browser to show nearby schools. We do not receive or retain the postcode on a separate Find A School server. Avoid searching a postcode if you do not want it sent to Postcodes.io.

If you choose “Use my location”, your browser asks for permission to access your device location. When allowed, the coordinates are used in your browser to centre the map and find nearby schools; they are not sent to Postcodes.io or stored by Find A School. The map still requests CARTO tiles for the visible area, so those requests can indicate the map area being viewed.

If you choose “Share search”, the link includes the current map point, search radius, result count and selected school-type filter. This may include a precise location if you previously chose to search from your device location. Your browser shares or copies the link only after you select that button; Find A School does not receive or store it.

School information and other sites

School and inspection information comes from public sources and is served as static files. If you follow a link to a school, inspection report or source website, that site applies its own privacy practices.

Cookies and your choices

Find A School does not set analytics cookies or use browser storage to remember visitors. Your browser may still send technical information to Cloudflare, CARTO and Postcodes.io when it requests their services. You can block third-party requests using your browser settings or extensions, although the map or postcode search may then stop working.
